Colourlock Leather Softener is an ideal treatment for restoring old ,dry hard and slightly shrunken leather found in classic car interiors, furniture suite, sofa, settees, handbags and suitcases. There are two reasons why leather hardens. First reason is the ageing and drying. The leather gets stiffer through lack of maintenance and use. It has not been re-oiled or used in a very long time causing a lack of movement of the leather fibres. Another reason can be the shrinkage of the leather by heat. Step 1 - Use a sponge or a cloth to apply Leather Softener. Applying this product on the underside of the leather, (suede part) will give maximum benefits. However, this is not always possible. If the leather is extremely dry, use a spray bottle and spray the product on.Let the leather rest for 24 hours after the first treatment to give time to absorb the Leather Softener and repeat. For an entire vehicle interior, one litre is sufficient and for individual upholstery parts 250 ml. Step 2 - Then try to loosen the leather fibres by massaging the leather with your hands. Repeat Step 1 & 2 until you see a noticeable difference.Take care - Very old and shrunken leather can easily break and won't get soft any further. After the final treatment, remove the remaining Leather Softener with a soft cloth and wait a week before next working step. In case of any repair work (filling, gluing, colouring), thoroughly degrease the area with COLOURLOCK Leather Cleaning Spirit. Step 3 - To nourish and protect the leather, use COLOURLOCK Leather Protector and if the leather is glossy or exposed to the weather protect additionally with COLOURLOCK Elephant Leather Preserver. Further treatments with Leather Softener is not necessary.4. It can be used on aniline leather, waxed, oily or pull up leather furniture suite, sofas, settee, certain car interiors, jackets, shoes and handbags. If used regularly, the COLOURLOCK Aniline Cream provides a strong waterproofing effect. When used regularly COLOURLOCK Aniline Cream provides strong protection against all types of stains. Existing stains are virtually impossible to remove on Aniline leathers.It is therefore extremely important to take necessary prevention steps. Typical applications include: All kinds of fine pore, dull, smooth porous leathers in the furniture sector. For instance, Aniline leather in the VW Touareg and all porous garment leather. COLOURLOCK Aniline Cream should be applied only to clean leather. Always test first on a hidden area for any changes Wet a soft, lint-free cloth slightly with the Aniline Cream and apply on the leather surface evenly, from seam to seam, in a circular motion. Let the Cream draw in (approx. 10 minutes) and repeat. New aniline leather should be treated at least thrice at the first time in order to prevent discolouration and stains. Warm the surface slightly afterwards with a hair dryer. This way, the protective effect will be enhanced. Strained surfaces should be treated at least every three months. Always clean the leather first. Not suitable for nubuck or suede! Apply some cream on a soft, lint-free cloth and clean from seam to seam in a circular motion. Never apply directly to the leather! Soak up wetness and dirt immediately with a soft cloth. Test in a hidden area first!5. Leather Fresh 'Black' is the most popular color.Very Important: Ensure repair surface is thoroughly cleaned prior to applying Leather Fresh. For best results, use COLOURLOCK Mild or Strong Leather Cleaner. This prevents the fixation of dirt on the leather's surface through the use of color or care. Our COLOURLOCK Leather Cleaning Brush facilitates work on heavy soiling in the depths of the grain. After cleaning, or in the case of recently cared or oily leather, you should degrease it before coloring or applying any care product using COLOURLOCK Leather Cleaning Spirit. Apply the color after the cleaner has dried, usually 1-3 hours after cleaning. Apply the dye evenly on the respective surfaces, working from seam to seam. Dry afterwards with a hair dryer.
