The White Dove/Egret Flower...(Habenaria radiata)
HEIRLOOM
also sometimes referred to as the Fringed Orchid or Sagiso....One of Japan's most famous orchids is the delicate terrestrial species
EASY TO GROW SEEDS
A Orchid native to Asia

Description

Hi ya'l, .... here's our super rare dove flower .....(Habenaria radiata) The White Dove/Egret Flower.. also sometimes referred to as the Fringed Orchid or Sagiso....One of Japan's most famous orchids is the delicate terrestrial species, the egret flower, Habenaria radiata. This plant's flower indeed looks much like a snowy egret with its display plumage puffed out.....The Flower is an absolutely gorgeous species of terrestrial orchid native to China, Japan, Korea and Russia. Its natural habitat includes grassy wetlands and seepage slopes in moderate to high mountains. The lateral lobes of the lip give it the distinctive "egret flower" shape, while the petals, also pure white and lightly toothed, splay upwards, looking much like wings, and giving the flower an almost angelic appeal up close..... ...Fun Facts:..Each spike will usually produce 2 or 3 flowers but sometimes it can be as many 8 ..... whole the flower looks remarkably like a white dove/egret in full flight!..These plants grow best in full sun to partial shade in sandy well drained soil .... This rare orchid has recently gained recognition around the world for its beauty, but ironically this species is now considered endangered in the wild for the most part the loss has been due to habitat destruction..... Flying Egret Orchid is a elegant plant of pure white flowers with fringed petals resemble a dove in flight. Suitable for containers inside or out.. Where Habenaria is not winter hardy (Zone 5 and colder), it can be grown in containers,...This species is in rapid decline over its entire range. In preagricultural times these plants grew in lowland bogs and marshes in the very same areas where rice patties were to be situated later on. Rare in the wild, yet easy to grow, this lovely species is a true gem of the far east. Anyone who is in for a bit of a challenge and is capable of say baking a cake from scratch ought to give this one a try. You won't be disappointed.

Description

Dendrobium kingianum is an extremely easy orchid that anyone can grow. It's a fast-growing orchid that tolerates a wide range of conditions, making it perfect for the beginning orchid grower. Its long-lasting blooms (flowers last around a month) also produce a beautiful fragrance. It comes from eastern Australia where it can handle temperatures near freezing in the winter, and into the triple digits in the summer. You can grow Den. kingianum inside the home or office, or outdoors (just bring it in during before freezing). It will adapt to any kind of loose media such as bark or even rocks (it is also known as the rock orchid). It only needs light, water, and occasional fertilizing to thrive. The canes (also called keikis) offered here (singly or mounted on cork bark) are aerial propagations from a larger plant. They are blooming size and can bloom late winter or spring. This orchid is like a kitten or rabbit -- born practically ready to breed! We offer these canes individually or in small groups, or best of all, mounted on cork bark for a very natural and attractive look. Hang your mounted orchids anywhere in the home where they'll get a bit of natural light, or on a patio or tree in your yard and watch your orchid thrive! Dendrobium kingianum would make a perfect addition to any orchid or plant collection, or a wonderful gift for someone who enjoys growing beautiful plants and wants to grow an orchid that you can't find at the supermarket. Growing instructions are included. Mounted version comes with a bendable hanging wire. PLEASE NOTE: These plants are NOT IN BLOOM when shipped. They may not have roots when shipped but they root VERY easily in a couple of weeks (which is fast for orchids) when planted in moist media (or even a 1/2 inch of water!).

Description

Lady slipper orchids of the genus Paphiopedilum are among the most desirable flowering plants on earth. They're called "lady slippers" or "slipper orchids" because some clever person observed that the pouch "lip" on the flowers resemble lady slippers, and the name stuck! The past 175+ years of breeding have resulted in blooms of incredible color, beauty, and form with the most desirable specimens commanding the highest prices paid of any orchids. Unlike the mass-produced orchids available everywhere these days, each lady slipper orchid is grown from seed in a long, painstaking process taking three to five years until the first bloom is seen. Every plant is a genetically distinct individual, as unique as people. In other words, they're not clones! We're offering here the pinnacle of Paphiopedilum breeding: the"complex" hybrid, so named for its mixed - but extremely selective - pedigree. The flowers of complex Paph hybrids can look like they were carved from alabaster and polished. Blooms can last anywhere between one to three months, and are impressive, elegant, and very desirable. The finest specimens have won "Best in Show" in major orchid competitions. The plants we're offering here come from the finest breeding of lady slipper orchids with unequalled pedigrees. Despite their delicate appearance, Paphiopedilum complex hybrids are very easy to grow, and make great houseplants. They will add a touch of elegance and class to any orchid collection! HOW TO GROW: Water around twice per week, give bright shady conditions (avoid direct sun), and light fertilization. Avoid freezing temperatures. Plant will be shipped in pot with potting media (i.e., soil). PLEASE NOTE: in order to avoid damage to buds/flowers, we DO NOT ship these plants in bud or bloom.
