Feature
Solar car kit provides students in grades 3-12 a hands-on activity to design and build a model car that demonstrates solar energy, photovoltaics, velocity, force, and motionIncludes a basswood chassis that can be used as-is or cut and shaped using cutting tools, and then painted in any color for unique, individual designs
Assembled with adhesive strips for ease of construction
Reinforces technology, engineering, and math concepts as students design and build an efficient model solar car and test its performance
Finished car measures approximately 3 x 3.5 x 6 inches (H x W x D)
Description
The Pitsco Basswood SunZoon Lite Solar Car Kit includes a basswood chassis, solar panel, and other parts needed to build a model solar car, and provides a hands-on activity for students in grades 3-12 studying solar energy, photovoltaics, velocity, force, and motion. The kit includes a precut basswood chassis board, a 0.45V, 400 mA solar panel with alligator clips, a Pitsco Motor 280, a polystyrene gear font (variety of gears), front and back wheels, steel axles, plastic tubing for spacer material, screw eyes, adhesive tabs, and a template. The chassis is precut for use with the model, but each student can modify it using cutting tools and paint (cutting tools and paint sold separately) according to individual designs. The solar panel measures 1.75 x 3 inches and is easily attached to the car body with adhesive tabs. The finished solar car measures approximately 3 x 3.5 x 6 inches (H x W x D). (H is height, the vertical distance from lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.) A solar car kit is typically used in an educational setting to demonstrate solar energy, photovoltaics, and physics.
The SunZoon Lite Solar Car Kit requires hobby knife, scissors, ruler, optional sandpaper or cutting tools such as a bandsaw, and optional paint or finish (all sold separately) for construction. The kit can be used in conjunction with the Pitsco 33088 SunZoon Lite Video (DVD) (sold separately).
