REVIEWS "Rides the line between erotica and old fashioned entertainment. ...I thoroughly enjoyed Matine...The bees knees when it comes to quality erotica. It spans the line between porn and erotica with grace and dignity." - Jamye Waxman, sex educator
REVIEWS "Bell, an American expat living in Amsterdam, would have been right at home with the ancient (1970s) pornographers like Gerard Damiano and Jackie Treehorn. Her 'Matine' is a high-concept and beautifully shot interlude about feelings and the artist's process...Yes, the two of them fuck onstage, but it is the leadup and execution that make 'Matine' more than a porn scene." - Fleshbot
ABOUT THE DIRECTOR Jennifer Lyon Bell is the creative force behind Blue Artichoke Films. She's a cinema lover dedicated to making "erotic film for people who like film": Artistic, unusual erotic films that portray sexuality in an emotionally realistic way. Whether documentary, fiction, or experimental, Blue Artichoke films borrow from traditional film languages and styles to represent sexuality in a new light. As an American living in Amsterdam for many years, Jennifer's films capture a European sensibility. Her films have screened all over the world and won "Best Film" and "Best Director" accolades in the USA, Europe, and Australia.

REVIEWS "Intelligent, sensual, and downright sexy... It's an intriguing story that hooks the viewer quickly, creating an unusual yet believable set up for the sex scene. The premise is helped enormously by the incredible presence and acting skills of both stars....A gorgeous film to watch. The lighting is superb, creating an atmosphere of lush sensuality and warm flesh...And on top of all that, it's hot! The sex is lusty, realistic and meaningful. The orgasms are real and the two actors really do have a good time together. ...What more can you ask?" - ForTheGirls.com

Description

The story: Stage actors Mariah and Daniel play lovers every night, but their onstage romance lacks spark. One slow afternoon, they discover that today's matinee performance will make or break both their careers. Daniel wants to make big changes, and Mariah starts to wonder: are Daniel's suggestions reasonable? Or has he lost track of the boundary between actor and character? Rushed to the stage, in front of a live audience, they must figure it out together.

Matinee is a sexually explicit drama intended to bridge the gap between art film and sex film. The film, shot on location in Amsterdam, showcases Steven McAlistair (Scotland) and Alicia Whitsover (England) in their first explicit sex roles ever. Matinee takes a fresh look at what erotic film can be. It features an original musical score and careful attention to capturing the real-life sounds of sex. Real, intense and emotional, Matinee is truly erotic film for people who like film.

Matinee has screened all over the world and won the Best Film prize at the Melbourne Underground Film Festival as well as at the CineKink/NYC film festival. The film also won Honorable Mention at Toronto's annual Feminist Porn Awards.

Description

Step back into a time of outrageous movie-theater gimmicks and larger-than-life B-screen stars in this charming homage to the great sci-fi and horror flicks of the 1950s and 1960s. John Goodman is at his uproarious best as the William Castle-inspired movie promoter Lawrence Woolsey, who brings his unique brand of flashy showmanship to the unsuspecting residents of Key West, Florida. It's 1962, and fifteen-year-old fan Gene Loomis (Simon Fenton) can't wait for the arrival of Woolsey, who is in town to promote his latest offering of atomic power gone berserk, MANT!. But the absurd vision of Woolsey's tale takes on a sudden urgency as the Cuban Missile Crisis places the real threat of atomic horror just 90 miles off the coast. With the help of Gene and Woolsey's leading lady, Ruth (Cathy Moriarty), the master showman gives Key West a premiere they'll never forget. Anything can happen in the movies, and everything does in this hilarious tribute to a more innocent (and outrageous) time in American cinema.

9. Wife for a Night

Description

Of all the beautiful movie stars of postwar Italy, none was more appreciated than the glorious and glamorous Gina Lollobrigida. Her marvelous eyes, her amazing figure, and her fine acting abilities made her an international star with the notoriety of an Italian volcano.

"Wife for a Night" is one of those saucy delights from director Mario Camerini that actually became the plot line for Billy Wilder's 1964 film, "Kiss Me, Stupid!" Armando Franciolo stars as an impoverished 18th-Century musican who schemes to attract the patronage of a wealthy count, played by Gino Cervi.

Expecting the count on a visit, our hero bundles his real wife, played by Gina Lollobrigida, out of town and hires a local courtesan to pose for her allowing the count to engage in some tongue-in-cheek maritial highjinks in return for financial support.

New York Times critic Bosley Crowther described Miss Lollobrigida as: " . . . a superb comediennea model of dexterity and physical allure."

Conclusion
