Description
Beefsteak has vigorous indeterminate vines that will need to be staked or caged to hold up the tomatoes that grow up to 2 pounds.
These large tomatoes are excellent for eating raw or cooking in sauces and tomato preserves. It is a favorite for slicing and eating on sandwiches or burgers.
It matures late compared to many other tomatoes. It provides a fresh harvest for the later season. Resistant to fusarium wilt and nematodes.
Start indoors 6 to 8 weeks before last frost in spring. Seeds germinate in 7 to 10 days. Transplant outdoors when danger of frost is over.
Plant with asparagus, basil, beans, borage, carrots, celery, dill, lettuce, melons, garlic, amaranth, cosmos, peas, sage, onions, parsley, peppers, radishes, spinach, thyme, nasturtiums, marigolds and calendula.
Don't plant near cabbage, kohlrabi, rutabaga, turnip, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, collards, cauliflower or kale.
