Yerba mate is an important part of South American social culture. It boasts a wide range of health benefits from being an energy boost, to being full of vitamins, to aiding weight loss, and having antioxidant properties. It is traditionally drank from a gourd with a metal straw (bombilla) to filter out the tea leaves, but can also be made using a coffee press or tea infuser.
