Sweet Salt also called Utah Red is mined from an underground prehistoric salt deposit deep in a North American Mountain, near the small town of Redmond, Utah. Sweet Salt is rich in minerals and contains natural iodine. It is completely free of impurities, with a mild taste suitable for most dishes Sweet Salt comes from evaporated seas, that existed 200 million years ago covering most of North America. During the Jurassic era a series of volcanoes erupted around the ancient seabed sealing in the salt and its minerals, keeping it free from pollutants. Sweet Salt unique "reddish/pink" appearance and specks of color originate from over 50 natural trace minerals and the natural iodine trapped in the salt by the volcanoes. We are fortunate, in that it is currently being mined by people who recognize that Sweet Salt is really one of the finest and purest salts on the market; unrefined, untreated, containing no additives, and it is one hundred per cent natural.
