Description

This fast growing biennial plant consists of a rosette of basal leaves during the first year. During the second year, this plant becomes about 2' tall with branching stems that have a tendency to sprawl. The blooming period occurs during the summer and lasts about 1-2 months. Each flower is about 1/2" - 3/4" and is replaced by an ascending seedpod that becomes -2" long. Cultivation: The preference is full sun to light shade, mesic conditions, and a fertile loamy soil and will grow anywhere including woodlands, roadsides, and waste areas. Zone: 4 to 9 Plants will go dormant in early summer if soils dry out. Will naturalize easily by self-seeding in optimum growing conditions.
