Description

Growing in floodplains, swamps, stream banks and wet meadows, Eupatorium perfoliatum, is a native perennial to the southern and eastern parts of the United States. It is commonly called Boneset, and it has masses of white flowers that are long-lived. Bees and butterflies love the nectar in the flowers, and it looks wonderful in the back of flower border. Start Boneset seed directly outside in spring after the danger of frost has passed. Prepare a seedbed, tamp the seed into the soil and cover with only 1/16 inch of soil. Keep the seed moist. With a temperature range of 70 - 85F, germination is usually within 21 days. Grow Boneset in full sun to partial shade and in moist, well-drained soil. Space plants 18 - 24 inches apart. Approximately 160,000 seeds per ounce.
