Description

Lady's Mantle, or Achemilla mollis, forms a mound of soft green foliage with sprays of yellow flowers. It is very popular for the beautiful display of foliage, and it is often used in flower arrangements as a filler. It performs well in full sun or partial shade, and it should be trimmed back after blooming to neaten its appearance for the rest of the growing season. The plant is known to self-sow. If this is not desired, deadhead the blooms as they age. Sow Lady's Mantle seed indoors 6 - 8 weeks before the last frost is expected. Press the seeds into the soil and cover no more than 1/8 inch with soil. Keep the seeds moist and maintain a temperature between 64 - 72F. Germination is usually within 14 days.
