1. 25 SWEET GRASS PURE SEEDS Heirochloe Odorata SACRED Plant
Description
Sweet grass is a perennial native grass, also known as Buffalo grass or Holy Grass. Native to North America and Europe, almost every significant Native American tribe used sweet grass for weaving, flavoring and as a medicinal grass. The vanilla-scented braids were burned as incense and as a peace offering in a manner similar to white sage (salvia apiana). Sweet grass came to be regarded as more than just a grass though. Sweet grass has literally been woven into the history and heart of America, and we see that from the long list of notorious tribes including the Lakotoa to the Cheyenne to the Blackfoot to the Omaha to the Sioux, all of which so deeply held this grass sacred as a testament of the power and energy of this single plant. Today it is still grown for the same uses it has been grown for throughout history and as a landscaping plant. It links together generations who have all found something special in the single plant. This single fiber of human being is becoming rare in the wild and should be preserved. Growing Information: Sweet grass is a frost-hardy perennial grass that spread by rhizomes. It usually prefers cool moist locations such as at the edge of a meadow. Seeds should be buried with just a thin dusting of soil. A moist fertile soil is ideal. By nature, it can be difficult to start from seeds, and seedlings tend to have low vigor. If germination does not occur within 6 weeks, you can cold stratify them. Despite the challenge from seed, once established, plants quickly spread by rhizomes which can be divided to form new plants. Plants prefer full sun to partial shade. Sweet grass does well in containers or in the ground, but should be kept from any type of drought and should not be exposed to extremely low temperatures. In most areas, this presents no issue as these limits are well below freezing. Plants will typically top out at about 2 feet in height.2. Description
Sweetgrass (Hierochloe odorata) is grown for its use in Native American and other rituals, as an incense. It can be smoked but the healthfulness of this is very dubious. It has a soft sweet scent, and need not be burned to be enjoyed. Live plants can be grown around the house, as living incense. Sweetgrass occurs in the wild in both North America and northern Europe. The Native Americans used it for scenting the floors of their tents, and as part of ritual costumes. In Northern Europe (particularly Russia), it is known as Mary's Grass, and was strewn on church steps for Saints' Days. It is also known as Zebrovka, Seneca Grass, Holy Grass, and Buffalo Grass (but should not be confused with Buchloe dactyloides buffalo grass). Hierochloe odorata prefers moist soil, and partial shade. It can withstand full sun in temperate climates and withstands winter excellently. Hardy in zones 4-9. Sweetgrass spreads primarily through its roots. Two kinds of stems grow, the stout ones with flowers, and the lanky sterile stems. Sweetgrass is harvested by pulling off sterile stems. It's the sterile stems that are used for braiding and basketry. They grow 18-24 inches. One "plug" (a stem or two with a few inches of frizzly rhizome) can typically cover a square foot in a year. (It's recommended by growers that harvesting take place after this initial period.) Wild stands of Sweetgrass are disappearing, due to "overpulling". When this biomass is removed from the sweetgrass stand, a little of the more precious trace nutrients is lost. * NOTE: Sweetgrass Hierochloe odorata exists in wild stands in Connecticut, Maine, Massachussetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. It is classified as "endangered" in Maryland, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania. The hardiest grass, Sweet Grass can grow as far north as the arctic circle. It also repels mosquitoes.3. 100+ California White Sage Seeds~ Sacred "Salvia Apiana" Ceremonial Aromatic Make Your Own Smudge Sticks! Rainbow Seeds & Supplies

This perennial evergreen adds a wonderful "presence" to the garden! Your sage plant can grow up to 3 feet wide and will have summer flower stalks reaching 6'-7'! California White Sage is a surprisingly adaptable plant. It has been reported to handle temps down to 15 degrees and up to 115 degrees or more and is incredibly drought tolerant! For cooler climates you will want to winter the plant indoors or mulch heavily. It prefers full sun and well drained almost sandy soil. For best results your seeds should be cold stratified in a refrigerator for 2-4 weeks. Plant seeds in flats or in pots in an appropriate planting soil. Seeds respond to light, so plant seeds at the soil surface or plant 1/8 to 1/4 in a well-drained soil mix. After planting, soak the soil thoroughly, and then water sparingly as needed making sure that the soil never completely dries out. Seeds germinate in 2-3 weeks at 20 to 30 C (68 to 86 F) around the clock. Plant your seedlings into 2" or 4" pots after they grow 2-4 leaves beyond the cotyledons. Water as needed, but do not over water. Salvia apiana plants grow rapidly. They are usually ready to transplant outdoors in about 6 months. Hardiness zones: 6-9. Sage is used like incense; its leaves are burned and will produce a wonderful fragrant smoke. Medicinally used for skin washes and as a natural deodorant. Mild tea made from the leaves have been used by natives as a general tonic.4. Ornamental Grass Seed - Hierochloe Odorta Sweet Grass Seed
