Description

The wormwood plant can be found covering the temperate areas of Europe, Asia, and northern Africa. Wormwood belongs to the family Artemisia, making it a relative of sage and mugwort. It is often used in landscaping as an ornamental plant for the appealing feathery appearance of its leaves. Wormwood has been in use since the days of ancient Egypt. Historically, it was best known as a flavoring ingredient in the alcoholic drink absinthe, and was even sometimes used in beer in place of hops.
NOTE: While wormwood tea does offer vitamins and minerals, it is rarely enjoyed for its flavor, which is often described as pungent and very bitter.
