THESE MEA PLATES HAVE A SHELF LIFE OF AT LEAST 10 MONTHS, WHICH IS MORE THAN DOUBLE TODAY'S STANDARD AND ARE MANUFACTURED IN THE USA. Our plates won't crack or dry out. They have a thick layer of agar which promotes good growth, have been professionally packaged and vacuum sealed in a level 5 cleanroom for a longer shelf life.

Malt Extract Agar (MEA) is used for the cultivation and maintenance of fungi, particularly yeasts and molds. Malt Extract Agar is used as a general purpose growth media to isolate and cultivate yeasts and molds from clinical samples, as well as a wide range of environmental sources. MEA is designed to contain the proper formulation of carbon, protein and nutrient sources essential for yeast and mold growth. Malt Extract Agar is perfect for mushroom tissue cultures.
