Description

Small saw teeth require a small file. Larger saw teeth require a larger file. If you intend to sharpen more than one saw, chances are you will need several saw files of different sizes. This Set includes these five saw files of different sizes: 1. One 4" Double Extra Slim, for saws with 17 - 22 teeth per inch (TPI). 2. One 5" Double Extra Slim, for saws with 14 - 16 TPI. 3. One 5" Slim, for saws with 11 - 13 TPI. 4. One 6" Slim, for saws with 7 - 10 TPI. 5. One 6" Regular, for saws with 4 - 6 TPI. The above inch dimensions refer to the file length excluding the tang. These taper saw files are made in Portugal by Tome Feteira. This 5 pc Set should cover most of your hand saw sharpening needs. These American pattern taper saw files have a triangular shape with single-cut teeth (single rows cut diagonally across the width of the file) designed for filing handsaws with 60-degree angle teeth. The files taper slightly toward the point to ease access between small saw teeth. The three corner edges of the files have also been single-cut so that you may file the gullets between the saw teeth. To balance the trade-off between speed of material removal and finish quality, the coarseness grade of these files is second cut (medium) as per the American pattern file classification of Coarse (or bastard cut), Medium (or second cut) and Fine (or smooth cut).
