Description

On Oct. 17, 2015, former major league ballplayer Mike Sandlock gathered with his family to celebrate his 100th Birthday. Presented to Sandlock that day were birthday greetings from the Commissioner of Baseball, Rob Manfred. Manfred wrote that he was most honored to wish our game's oldest living player a 100th birthday and extended his gratitude for the way Sandlock represented the game since his professional career began in 1938. This book details Sandlock's career through biography, interviews with family and with former teammates. Included are season histories for Sandlock's teams, the Boston Braves, Brooklyn Dodgers & Pittsburgh Pirates, comprehensive playing stats, a photo gallery, game stories from Mike's playing days and ballpark histories for the stadia in which Mike played. A lifelong resident of Connecticut, Mike is a local treasure and as such the researching and writing of this book by the CT Chapter of the Society for American Baseball Research was an honor and a pleasure.
